  Is it possible to believe in something you can't prove?

  there is something i have always thought about, can anybody prove the existence of an benevelent god, who claims to love us but constantly proves to elusive, and is a matter of interpretation in the magic book, how can any of us puny humans know his ways, we only know how to procreate, live and eventually die, surely a truely loving father would protect his offspring , i'm thinking that maybe the god of the jehovah's witnesses is truely the demiurge the creator god and not the almighty father that knows all, why else would he be jealous?.

  by the way i'm getting fed up with these arguments, and am thinking along the lines of a deist creator one creates and flies on, or even it doesn't exist and it's more of a panspermia thing!.

  all the bible does is self validate itself, once you have bought into it, it's very tricky to get out, it's good there are sites like this!!!.

  Actually, no one has any proof, at least that I know of.

  a pawn shop is a good working model for the doctrine of grace.. if we examine the model we can clearly view the elements of a bond and how the transaction works.. then, we can apply what the model illustrates for understanding the metaphor used in the new testament.. .

  The problem with getting into subjects like this is that we are working with limited information. We live to be 80 years old and we try to make sense of issues that have thousands of years of unknown information, not even taking into account that we do not live in the spirit realm and are not privy to thousands upon thousands of years of conversations that have taken place there.

  SURVEY: Is a JWN members post count a reasonable indicator of their theist/atheist position? If so what can be learned from that?

  i've done no research on this but i suspect that a members belief or absence of belief in god may have some correspondence with the number of posts he or she has made.. my tentative suggestion is that members with fewer than 500 posts are mostly believers while members with more than 3000 posts are mostly non-believers.

  of course there are exceptions, maybe quite a few, but i'm only dealing with generalities here.

  so how about a survey?

  I hate to break the news to you, but this situation is not mutually exclusive to JW's.

  Everyone on this planet has been raised by parents who were victims of their parents, who were victims of their parents, and so on.

  I suffered alot of emotional trauma when I was a child, and tried to bring my child up in a better way, which I did.

  My child does not see it that way, because she has no reference point.

  In other words, she did not experience MY childhood, so she has nothing to compare her 'better life' to.
